Absolutely unbelievable

Words fail me. Sings unbelievably well and is very very cute. Talent like this is something that you either have or don't.

Her next single should be 'All I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth.' :-)

Thanks Abnerd

Raise your hands

I was at a company function recently and the man who glorified yellow boots was invited. Half way through, he said he wanted to do a demonstration. So, he asked 3 guys on the left to raise their right hand and 3 other guys on the right to do the same as well. He asked them to ensure that their elbow are locked and hands must be pointing straight up. Next, he asked to ensure that the left hand is pointing straight to the floor. So once every body had done this, he goes back onto the stage. Then he says.....

"I want 6 volunteers to come up to the stage and be my backup dancers." :-)

He then continues to say "I actually wanted 6 ladies, but since these guys volunteered....what to do?"

Me want cookie!!!

Few days back, while I was talking to Nicole, she told me, 'Me want to drink water'. I was surprised, as she knows when to use 'I' and when to use 'me' previously. Has never heard speaking in 3rd person. Then, I realised that she must have picked it up from TV, probably while watching Sesame Street. Sesame Street has been around for a very long time. During my time, there weren't shows like Out of the box, Danny & Daddy, Johnny and the Sprites, Fun Song Factory and the like. Kids nowadays have plenty of educational programs to choose from and some of them are very good, even for adults.

Back to my point. Though Sesame Street does teach kids lot of things, like counting (who can forget The Count?), alphabets, songs and games, as parents, we should pay attention to the child's grammar. It might be cute to hear cookie monster say 'Me want cookie!!!' but it's not grammatically correct. It's good to watch the program together with the child. A friend asked me if I correct my kids' grammar. I said of course. It's always better to start young, rather than when they're older and bad habits are hard to get rid off. Don't get me wrong, not trying to be snobbish. The kids have however, learnt to laugh like The Count and they do get a kick out of it when I join in together.

As Daphne is younger, her vocab is pretty limited. But don't be fooled, she can sing all kinds of songs apart form the obligatory Twinkle Twinkle Little start and Barney's I love you. Once, when were having dinner in a Japanese restaurant, she could actually sing along to the song that was being played. Of course not word for word, but you could tell that she was paying attention to the melody and trying to catch the words at the end of each phrase. She could even sing along to a Chinese oldie from one of my mother-in-law's CDs. And when you look at her while she sings, all she does is melt you with her smile.

Toys, toys toys

iPod nano....yummy... I know.. i know...I'm a bit out dated as this has been out for quite sometime. The overall design of it is really very cool and nice to hold and looks way better than the previous model. And you can watch video on it, albeit through a micro-mini screen lah. For a bigger screen size, go for the ipod classic.

Too bad the iPhone is not available in Malaysia. Closes you can get, in terms of look is iPod Touch. But.....I think the HTC Touch is equally as cool, if not better. Not only can you use it for multimedia purposes, it doubles as a PDA in a very sleek deseign. It really is one of the best looking PDA phone on the market. Only let down is it tends to be a bit slow at times. The touchFLO feature will need some getting used to and strokes need to be pretty deliberate. But all in all, it's very good value for money.

What to chose? What to chose? hmmmm....

Don't touch

Pocoyo, the baby in blue. Check out this clip that I found for my kids. I think it applies for adults as well as kids. We can resist everything but temptation, but you'd be lucky if all ends well though.

Chugga chugga....

Chugga..chugga..choo! choo! ....thats what the kids sounded like when we brought them for a train ride yesterday. It was a short 15 min train ride but a first for the kids and one after more than 10 yrs for wifey and I. The ride only costs 80cents one way for an adult and 40cents for kids below the age of 5. Only catch was it was free seating and seats weren't guaranteed. Luckily, there weren't many passengers and we managed to get seats.

The station was pretty deserted, apart from the few waiting passengers. The station's very quiet. While waiting for the train to come, the kids were busy running around the station and being the curious lot, they wanted to see and touch everything. The newstand and canteen was closed, wonder is it permanent (not enough patrons) or just cause of the holidays. With budget airlines being so cheap these days, it's no wonder that trains are not the prefered choice these days.

During the train ride, while the kids were busy pointing out the things that they could see (cows, houses, boats), it did bring back thoughts of the train ride I used to take to go back to my hometown during my college days. Though the ride's slightly longer than that compared to a bus, it offered a different kind of scenery altogether and the rhythmic clanging of the wheels agains the tracks will lull you to sleep. During the festive season, you didn't have to worry about jams on the road as well.

I'll always remember the canteen coach. Used to go there during train rides with my late granny when I was much much younger. And I would bawl like mad when it came for the time for her to go home.

On the return journey, Nicole was tired (after running around the station) so she fell asleep. Daphne on the other hand was still cooly enjoying the ride, 'making friends' with the other passengers.

If

This is a song originally by David A. Gates in 1971 and made popular by Bread (not your regular Gardenia or High 5). The lyrics are very meaningful.

If a picture paints a thousand words
Then why can't I paint you
The words will never show
The you I've come to know
If a face could launch a thousand ships
Then where am I to go
There's no one home but you
You're all that's left me too
And when my love for life is running dry
You come and pour yourself on me
If a man could be two places at one time
I'd be with you
Tomorrow and today
Beside you all the way
If the world should stop revolving
Spinning slowly down to die
I'd spend the end with you
And when the world was through
Then one by one the stars would all go out
And you and I would simply fly away

Dedicated to my dar...

Does age really matter?

Recently a friend of mine asked me to introduced guys to her. Apart from the usual requirements of being good looking, humorous and the like, she said that he has to be older than her.

It made me think. Does age really matter? In this day and age when everybody wants to be equal, does the guy need to be older than the gal? Are older guys perceived as being more mature/stable? Does the guy necessarily need to earn more than their other half? If you like that guy and everything is spot on, do you walk away just cause he's younger?

I know some older people, regardless of their gender, who are more childish and myopic compared to their younger peers. There are older people who will force their opinions or thoughts down other people's throat regardless of how unreasonable it can be. The really matured ones are those who listen and digest carefully what is said before giving their 2 cents worth.

The age of a person should not be a measure of anything other than being when they were born.

When a blister don't matter

Last night, while watching TV, Nicole took my hand (the skin was peeling from a recovering blister) and asks me 'What happened to your hand?'. I told her my hand pain and asked her to pls sayang it. She then kissed my hand and sayang-ed it :-)

Kids do the most unexpected things at times.

You know that...

You know that you are driving in Penang when...

1. 'Kapchais' rule, weaving in and out like nobody's business.
2. When a driver just signals and switches lanes without looking.
3. At the traffic lights, red mean go and green means stop.
4. Right lane is the slow lane.
5. You can drive in between lanes cause you pay road tax.

Bummer.
